Caring For Your Cemetery Day
In association with Trash Mob Buffalo and to celebrate Earth Day, join us to clean up the cemetery and get it looking great for the season. Help us collect and get rid of debris. Gloves and equipment will be provided.

Mourning in the 1800's
Featuring local historian, lecturer and author Tim Shaw. Take a step back in time to December 21, 1883 to attend the wake of 9-month-old Jacob and discover how traditions such as covering mirrors and photographs with black crepe fabric, art made from human hair and mortuary jewelry came to be. Learn about the mourning period for men and women and what the fashions were like. Phrases like “basket case” and “dead ringer” had their roots during the 1800’s; hear about their origins. The event is free.

Memorial Day Commemoration

Family History Day
Join us at Historic Concordia Cemetery for Family History Day. Genealogists will be available to answer your questions and help you with your genealogy research. Concordia Volunteers will help you locate the graves of your ancestors and family members and translate your German documents. Local genealogy and history organizations will be on hand to share info and help you with your research.
Veterans Day Ceremony
Veterans Day Ceremony—Saturday, November 8, 11am-noon
Join us as we honor all who served with local community leaders. This event is co-hosted with the Johnetta. R. Cole AmVets post #24.

Our “Uncovering WNY History” digs will continue in 2025.Please join our Fellowship of the Dig as volunteers locate, unearth, clean, and catalogue long-buried tombstones. No experience is necessary – we will teach you the proper way to handle these fragile pieces of history - and we provide the tools. Digs are scheduled dependent upon weather and if we have sufficient participants, and are announced on our Facebook page Friends of Concordia Cemetery.
